Pros

Some really excellent people who toil unbelievably hard to keep the train on the tracks and do right by the customer. Senior Management doesn't realize how lucky they are to have people who are willing to go the extra mile to do the right thing, often in the face of crippling legacy IT systems, analysis paralysis, and ill-informed management.

Cons

Have worked at ING (and previously Aetna) for 20 years. It's never been a company that can make an informed or timely decision, nor a timely decision. It's not on an upward trajectory; I personally have never seen it so bloated and so ineffective. Micromanagement at many levels, yet they are curiously blind to customer satisfaction, competitive threats, and multliple inefficient systems. Good career opportunities IF you are friends with the right people. Compensation reasonable; upper management comp is very good. Work/life balance depends on your particular team. Culture and values - lots of platitudes, all of them with an "orange" in the name. Compliance is key; a good thing except real and tangible focus on doing right by the customer is far, far behind being "compliant."
