Pros

Flexibility in schedule is nice in the work from home 2-3 days per week option, offices in the Plaza building are new, so it's somewhat pleasant.

Cons

Since going public, there is an obvious shift to maintain the bottom line at all costs. Serious cost cutting happening. Moving nearly all the RTP workers into the Plaza building is creating a poor parking situation. Oh but of course upper mgmt. have their parking spaces reserved, so they needn't worry about it. They have removed all the half-cubes we had for 4 years, and have implemented new wonderful seating, in which you practically share your desk space with your neighbor. Micro reimbursement has been cut from $1200 for upgrades every 3 years, to $800...lovely. And of course the medical/dental benefits costs placed on the employee have been increased. Additional cost cutting can be seen by the leaders decision to move jobs from the US to India and other low cost countries. I would definitely think twice before applying for job here.

Pros

Quintiles offers flexible schedules that include working from home up to 4 days per week. Tuition assistance, money for a personal computer every 3 years, fitness reimbursement & on site fitness centers and cafeterias in some locations are other perks.

Cons

In 2013 & 2014, they have eliminated hundreds of US & European jobs under the guise of "globalizing" their operations. In reality, operations have been centralized to low-cost centers in India and South Africa in order to increase profits. Professional growth opportunities for US based employees in data & safety monitoring are almost non-existent. There is also a lack of work/life balance and work loads can be unmanageable due to high turnover rates for data team leads. Schedules were previously tailored to meet client and personal needs, but since the move to low-cost centers in India, US based employees are expected to attend meetings early in the morning or late at night depending on which shift their Indian counterparts work. Lack of focus on the value that US employees bring to the company is a major concern. Emphasis on profits, rather than quality delivered at a reasonable price seems to be the new plan.
