Pros

Leadership are kind, thoughtful with their employees at the front of mind. Pay is generous compared to other companies.

Cons

A large amount of people there do nothing, like all the tech companies. It's not their fault either. They're hired and given tiny amounts of work and have to attend multiple meetings about nothing. Clout chasing teammates obsessed with posting smug linkedin updates about how inclusive they are without actually doing anything long lasting to be inclusive. Far left liberal managers. Language is policed, more time is spend sharing pronouns and banning non gender inclusice words (like hey dude!) than doing actual work. I left indeed and took a 40% pay cut and shed my benefits in search for job satisfaction and purpose.

Pros

Unlimited PTO Fair commission structure Colleagues across multiple departments are great people

Cons

I am a reasonably new starter at Indeed, I left my previous company for an opportunity at Indeed. Recently Indeed announced that we will be expected in the office for a mandatory 2 days a week, Wednesday and Tuesday. The same days as all the other major companies. All parents now will know the issue that this has created in terms of childcare. With everyone due to go back on the same days, childcare services are overloaded and if you are lucky enough to get childcare the prices are exorbitant to the point where it would be cheaper for one parent to stop working. So, Indeed, my question to you is as a company that prides itself on being an industry leader and advocating for diversity & inclusion, why are you creating a situation that will force your female employees to resign? Obviously, there will be fathers impacted by this also, but it is well known that women usually give up their careers to be primary childminders and carers. I must say that I am disappointed by Indeed's lack of foresight in the matter and have no doubt that Indeed will lose top talent because of this decision. Please consider making the 2-day office return flexible to avoid losing staff due to carer shortages in Ireland. I've settled into my role and constantly hit my KPIs, I don't want to be forced out of working for such a great company because of this.

Pros

Open PTO, a monthly YOU day, 401k with match, and the capacity for a fully remote role, among others. They do well on the superficial stuff.

Cons

Indeed is a large company with many departments. Speaking on the department I was in: there was very little direction and goals were very vague quarter to quarter. This put immediate team leads and managers in the awkward position of needing to do the jobs of their higher-ups (and for not much more pay than their direct reports). Some folks in leadership roles consistently played favorites and created roles for unqualified team members to get promoted into. When looking to join a different department, the internal job interview process was clunky and cumbersome. Any internal job seeker could get through 5 rounds of interviews only for that department to decide to cancel the role last minute. How does this happen at a company who vows to advocate for job seekers? An employee referral system is in place but if your referral is nearing 40 years in age, has ample job experience, and they’re not applying for a seasoned engineering role, then forget about it. Indeed knows inexperience is cheaper. (They like compensating at the lower end of the salary range.) This place is a stepping stone, but do not let the branding blind you. There is no mystique to working at Indeed. It is just as big and dysfunctional a corporation as any. I can guarantee that competence is not a requirement. It’s ultimately bad PR for them to lay people off but they’ll find other ways (voluntary severance) to trim the fat. Just be cautious and make sure that what you decide to do benefits you.
