Pros

Intel will give you the experience to succeed in other companies, it has a high stress level, good for resume, good medical benefits, good group of people to work with, good chance to see if you can cut it in a work place that only values results

Cons

People aren't important, people fall last behind stock holders, analyst, fabs and tools. There is poor recognition, poor stock plan, poor advancement, poor mentoring, poor training, poor promotion paths for all junior exempts. Technicians are even worse off. This is a results company that doesn't listen to it's people or doesn't care if they are content because of the large supply of new people knocking to get in.

Pros

The work can be very challenging and it is unlikely a good engineer will become bored. Your coworkers will come from all over the globe and will demand the very best out of you.

Cons

The environment has changed a lot over the past decade. It is less rewarding financially as most compensation is only salary since stock is flat. There is far less personal growth available as the company is mostly downsizing this decade. What growth does occur is outside the US sites. Supporting and working with coworkers in Asia, Europe, and Israel requires significant work schedule flexibility. Meetings often occur at 7am and 9pm on the same day.

Pros

There are always an endless number of challenges available to work on. The stakes can be high, it is especially rewarding to realize that a small project or change you make can easily save the company millions of dollars. Variable is quite good, but sometimes it as though the stock does not correlate to the outstanding job we do.

Cons

Work-life balance can be a challenge. To be really successful you need to work 60 hours a week. Management will still respect you if you choose to work only 40, but you won't get the promos and big raises. There are always people who are willing to sacrafice their personal life to get ahead.
