Toxic culture shock

Pros

Made good friends. Nice cafeteria options.

Cons

Title worship. Toxic middle-managers in tech. Absent leadership who only wants to be put on a pedestal and worshipped. A lot of busy work. Manual, tedious and draining workload. Lots of people who talk a lot of technical nonsense about architecture but don’t have the skill to back it up. Just the title.. They want a blend of toxic and skill based personality in leadership that keeps the alpha culture going ( could be male female or other person that is driving this alpha culture of a bygone era). I went in to jpmc as a confident person but came out in about a year with low self-esteem and always second guessing my decisions ( my manager would micromanage, yell, talk down to me in front of others).

Stable well run organization. It is a durable company

Cons

It is a big bank and a big organization and therefore has the associated bureaucracy
