Pros

Good people at the do-er levels Great technology and solutions Fantastic and loyal customers

Cons

I would rate this less than one star if it was possible. Most immature group of executives I've ever experienced; focused more on their own net worth and making decisions only to their benefit, and constantly finding ways to pay its people less. The company is completely run by Finance and every decision is based mostly on dollars and cents; and not on reason. They have run most of the quality performers and do-ers away from the company because of their immature antics and childish attitudes. I believe the executive team is completely naive and unaware that the masses of its employees feel this way. Only about 5 people in the company cared much about going public because the only people that had much value of equity were the 5 top executives. In fact, when long, long, long-time employees that had many stock options have left the company, the company exercised its right to retract their options. Executives blow smoke to its employees thinking the employees are unaware of their antics, and that the employees are naive, and tells them what they think employees want to hear in a "pep rally" type format. It makes most employees (other than newbies) want to regurgitate their breakfast. Executives are focused on their "golden ring" for the day they can cash out, and they don't care about the well-being of its employees. This whole attitude began the day SciQuest went public. The execs are more focused on reaching their revenue goal as opposed to doing the right things for its clients, and just "doing the right thing" to organically grow a solid company. Every decision is a dollar and cents decision instead of the "right decision" and recognizing to "invest in its people". For those prospective employees of SciQuest, beware of "being sold" in an interview.. You better confirm anything told to you in an interview if it sounds positive. Many have been told things that are a big, big stretch of the truth. The quality hires have caught on to this after being hired, and usually leave for better opportunities. Some have been told of job responsibilities that have not come to fruition and prospective sales people told that all salespeople make only what the top performers in the company make. You should be skeptical of these opportunities, and make sure you, at a minimum, confirm and verify everything that you are told before accepting an offer.

No leadership. No direction. No clue...

Pros

People are great and the legacy conditions of the workplace from the founders still exist to some extent. Free soday, pinball, March Madness on TVs around the office are still part of the culture. Hockey tickets and other perks are spread across employees. The anualy President's Club trip is first rate.

Cons

CEO has no clue on how to run a business. He made his "bones" in M&A, and the three acquisitions he has made are absolute disasters. Just ask cutomers of those acquired companies. Respect is a dirty word, and even the best people with years of significant and key contributions to SQI's survival are castigated and cast aside publicly for the smallest of infractions. Employment is a revolving door with middle managers having short careers.
