Horrible people management

Pros

- Brand name, however tarnish by some recent scandals - Market pay, better than other 2nd tier accounting firms but slightly lower than the other big 3 - Good training - Reasonable working hour

Cons

- Jobs are gradually shifting back to the Mainland offices. Since those partners and senior managers do not have much skills other than audit and the lack of business sense, they can go no where other than staying in the firm. The combined effect is that there is not as many opportunities as before for junior staffs to get to more senior level. - People management staff is forever changing. Every staff feels there is a pressure of downsizing from time to time. Staffs morale can not be lower. - When I say horrible management system, I meant it is managed by people. Strong favoritism exists for some managers / senior mangers for job allocations. Some male managers book some other female staffs having other things in their mind other than simply work.

Pros

I gained experience in sales and use tax compliance while working for a Big 4 firm.

Cons

LOTS of turnover since Feb. 2012. I know of interns at smaller firms that make more than our Senior Associates. The work is redundant. Doesn't "feel" like you work for a Big 4 firm (no interaction with partners within SALT or employees in other service lines. Not a diverse office by any means.

Pros

The skill I have learned since I started working at KPMG are too many to mention, they're always pushing personal development.

Cons

There is a serious lack of human empathy at this firm. If you are not strong of will, you will not survive. No one seems to care about anything that does not contribute to the bottom line. I think this would be true for all the big four and most of the finance industry.
