Pros

-fantastic helpful team-oriented coworkers -flexible hours in some departments -very interesting work -good benefits

Cons

-supervisors and lower management poorly trained and ineffective, with singular goal of making upper management happy (regardless of the effect on everyone below) -culture of fear (management induced) -monthly roller coaster to "make budget or else" -little to no employee recognition or appreciation (regardless of excess time worked, quality, quantity, effort, etc) -depressed environment with high turnover -6% of workers selected annually to fulfill quota in order that bonuses and raises can be witheld -philosophy is to hire recent grads and work them until they burn out, and then replace them

Pros

Paid time off is exceptional. Some departments/supervisors offer flexibility as long as you complete your work. You have the ability to work in many different areas of biotech/drug development.

Cons

High level management doesn't have a clue as to the amount of work or number of challenges an average individual deals with. Sometimes the same can be said for lower level management. Workers are put into inappropriate situations in terms of meeting deadlines and quality of work expectations. Many things fall by the wayside including work-life balance. The economic compensations and verbal affirmations for a job well done are intermittent and in some work areas are non-existent. On a regular basis people are busting their tails to get work completed and are not offered anything in return; it's a one way street...which leads to turnover.
