Pros

Good challenge, assuming you like spending 80+ hour weeks in work while contracted to a 37.5 hour contract!!! Decent pay, until you realise that for the hours you do you will be on less than the cleaners you manage per hour.

Cons

People are not of any worth to Lidl. They select in keen people they know will give their all to not feel like they have failed, where the real failing is not actually investing in enough quality people to get the job done in a reasonable timeframe. Very poor head office, not a support function, always requiring extra work from regions with zero benefit to the region.

Pros

The one positive thing I could say is the salary rises in time but... I don't think your health has a price on.

Cons

WORST COMPANY TO WORK FOR !!!! EVER !!!!!!!! Do not the salary could be quite misleading because they have extremely high expectations from the staff. It is a very depressing place to work at, the management is always pressuring you to hurry up even if you are trying your best because there is always not enough time. Because Lidl is always short of staff. They do not care if you are hungry or need a break, you need to wait for them to finish a few more things and maybe after 5-6 hours you might get your break but depends how busy it is. The company does not treat you like a person or a human being of that mater. For them, you are just a number and they expect you to work like a machine. You get constant calls every single day not only on your days off but even really early on you working days just to ask you to come earlier as possible because they are too busy and some of the store managers need to go home early. There is no respect for you as a person. My health dropped really badly after working for them and it got all depressed and miserable. I hated going there it was a constant nightmare. And it was either too many hours in the beginning or not enough the last few months even tho I had specific hours on contract. The explanation was "The store doesn't earn enough", but the managers above me were working overtime every single week. And at the end the took nearly my whole salary with a stupid explanation. Another thing that I noticed is the sexism in the company, every man it doesn't matter if he just started recently is on the shop floor doing something more enjoyable then sitting all day on a till. And every day the person who is mainly on the till is a woman. Even if there are two duty managers on shift the one who is in charge is the man. Women are discriminated and left on the till doing repeatedly one thing. No one is swapping you from the till because guess what - they are short of staff... I can't literally say a good thing about this company, honestly, it is just terrible !!! PS: I forgot to add that the quality of meat products, vegetables and fruits is really low. Surprisingly lots of people buy stinking meat. I am really disgusted with it. Even when I was working there I didn't recommend to anyone to buy meat from them. I prefer paying a bit extra but to get quality food that won't poison me from Morrisons, Sainsbury's or even Co-Op. Not everything is money in this life. And you definitely can't buy new health with money!

Horrible company!

Pros

Money, that's the only pros. They pay above the average. Nothing else...

Cons

Poor management, managers push their staff to work extra even if you've already plans, if you say that you can't take this shift, you will get a "punishment" - less hours or crazy shifts (e.g. 5 days a week, 2-3 hours per day in the midday). If you don't pick up the phone when the manager is calling you: here you go - punishment! Weekly timetable could be changed a several times within the current week!! So it's hard or almost impossible to make any plans. No work/life balance at all!!! No respect from Sales Operation Managers and higher! They would look down on you and obviously treat the same way!
