Will drag your Name through the Mud

Pros

Young culture, growing (for now), exposed to a lot

Cons

Numbers don't lie. Extremely high turnover. Out our team of 15, only 2/3 people have been there longer than a year. Vendors/ business partners hate doing business with Lidl. Speak with any vendor doing business with them and ask about their experience. Like the vendors, they will jerk you around and show zero respect. Additionally, your name with be dragged through the mud. Complete disorganization and constant "fire drills" will make you look like you have no idea whats going on. Not a good place for anyone starting out and looking to build networks. Bait and Switch. From the time I interviewed and accepted the position, they switched the manager and brought in someone who had never managed anyone before and have zero chemistry with. They will sell you on "being a new company in the US" "early promotional" opportunities, but it is smoke and mirrors. They are yet to turn a $ and are living off Lidl Europe. Company will falter as this rate, they are already a few years behind. The Lidl US founders have already jumped ship. Lastly, it is hard to generalize everyone at Lidl, but many of the employees will go out of their way to put you down to make themselves look good. Actually the non-US employees are more respectable. Overall not a good culture. Run.

Pros

Waste of time, there isn't any reasons to work there.

Cons

Long hours without break (the break is unpaid), no water permitted to drink on the shop floor, or check point, you have to leave the queue to go to the toilet. Generally you have 10, 11 hours night shift and you can finish at 1 or 2 o'clock in the morning. Your rate is £8.25 for Saturdays, Sundays, Bank Holidays, nights. With one word they pay you only this, no more. For contract 30 hours you do usually 40-50 and they don't want to hear you for any adjustments on the rota. You are a slay. At the end of the month you receive around £1000, no more. Even the holidays are when they want, not when you need. The company don't want to waste money for you for training. For two years there I've received only four days introduction training and all this time i'm cleaning the tills or attending the customers. The lack of training and perspective is killing me. I'm now depressive and with no self steem. I'm looking forward to finish the University and try something new. Stay away from this company if you have self respect.
