Pros

Organised product set up and display and easy structure to pick up. Ok pay and working hours. I can't think of anything else

Cons

Poor lower management (at least in the branch I was in). The assistant manager hid an item in his pocket in the trolley test and then said I failed the test due to missing the item. I had to bring this to the manager.... It was not my job to check people's pockets!!! This sort of thing should not be allowed.

Pros

Good experience (You leave with plenty of skills to put on your CV; Warehouse, till, bakery ect) Decent pay Great co workers and a really friendly manager probably made the experience much easier for me Always busy so it never really gets boring

Cons

When on the till you have to meet an item per second time limit Long hours (One time when the big boss came to visit we had to stay until 1AM to make sure everything was perfect... I had to start another 10 hour shift at 6AM) I was also employed on a 16 hour contract but found myself working 40 hours every week a couple of weeks after starting. Expected to do everything. At once. Not enough staff to cover

Pros

-Travel and language-learning opportunities are available for Managers and above. The "Future Leader" program (if it still exists) is quite cushy. - Opportunity to be on the ground floor of a proven business concept in a new country. This type of opportunity certainly doesn't present itself very often. -My experience at Lidl taught me to scrutinize all potential employment opportunities, and to avoid being swayed by propaganda spewed by recruitment professionals and senior management alike.

Cons

-Managers are compensated handsomely, even though they may have absolutely no relevant work experience. Lower-level employees are considered second-class citizens and are paid poorly in comparison, especially considering that the DC metro area is one of the most expensive areas in the country. -Incredibly demanding and demeaning senior management. Belittlement and intimidation are used quite often. Never in my life have I been made to feel so completely worthless and unintelligent. So much for "Respect"... -Complete disregard of many local rules and regulations -The company does a fabulous job of tugging on the heart strings of young, naive college grads ("Travel!", "Startups!", "Success!", "Change the Grocery Industry Forever!"). While all companies love to embellish how great they are, Lidl's propaganda machine is especially well-oiled. At the end of the day, no matter how hard this company tries to sell themselves as a hip and trendy startup, it is important to remember that they are just a big grocery chain run by narcissists.
