Pros

Good job job security if you achieve your targets.

Cons

All senior managers are graduates with little, to no experience working anywhere else. This has created a culture where it is deemed acceptable to treat employees with absolute disdain (this includes higher management to middle management and so on). The work life balance is apalling, as you will regularly get home after your shift to a barrage of text messages. There is never any praise for doing a good job, only negative feedback and ever increasing expectations. The pension scheme is derisory. You will regularly work 10+ hours without a break (as is the culture) You will be expected to clean customer toilets that have been s*** up like a scene from trainspotting. You will be expected to confront/detain shoplifters (this can get VERY physical) You will be expected to attend the store after/during break ins (even though this was apparently outsourced to a security company) The training, whilst on paper is good... is non existent and you will "sink or swim" I could honestly write a book about the things I experienced in my 12 years with the company. I thought it was bad at the time, but didn't realise just how badly you are treated until I found a new career. I once received a phone call instructing me that there had been talk of a trade union coming into the store to offer their services and to kick them out if they entered the store... what are they afraid of if they are such a good employer? Do not work for this company!

Pros

Decent benefits.... that's about it

Cons

- No sense of direction or company mission. This company does not know what they are doing. Decisions are made based on "a feeling" and will change at any moment. The company tries to be unique but ends up following exactly what our main competitor does. - Incompetent people in management positions. This company brings in many European employees to be in management positions. The problem is that there are differences in the European market compared to the US market. European management will try to implement things that are done in Europe and most of the time will not work in the US. Instead of promoting people internally, the company looks to bring over European colleagues who only stay for a few years and end up going back. - There are specific timelines and processes for projects, yet for some reason every project is always "out of process" and "urgent" that needs to happen right away. You’ll find your time and effort you put in are often wasted. - If you are a robot who likes doing the same tasks over and over again and not looking to grow in your career, then this is the job for you!! This place does not care about your growth. There are little to no opportunities to learn and grow outside of your daily tasks. Your hard work and effort are NEVER rewarded or even recognized to be honest. Promotions are not given to those who deserve them. Requests to attend external trainings and trade shows to learn more about the industry and grow in your role are often denied as the company does not think it is important to invest in their employees. The only thing you’ll learn from here is what NOT to do as most things you’ll do here are not common practices in the industry. - If you care about your mental health, I would stay away from here. I’ve never been in such a working environment where so many colleagues have said they have developed mental health issues due to the work environment. The culture operates based on fear. The culture is to “escalate” things to your manager when something goes wrong instead of working together as a team to learn and resolve problems. People you work with will go behind your back and complain to your manager instead of talking to you directly. There is a lot of finger pointing when problems arise or something is late. Managers will spend more time documenting their employees’ mistakes instead of working with them to resolve problems. Working in this culture, you have to be on the lookout for you and cover yourself. Developing anxiety is a common theme at this place. - I wouldn’t believe all the highly rated reviews here. This company has asked current employees to log on to give good ratings in order to lure others to work at this terrible place. It’s like a revolving door for employees because the turnover at this place is so high. If you start here, you’ll probably leave this place feeling so behind in your career that leaving will the best decision you make for yourself.
