Good structured placement with fair pay.

Pros

Good friendly relaxed work environment. Excellent development opportunities and good feedback from management regarding work. As an industrial placement student the pay was slightly above par with other company's. The industrial placement scheme itself was well run and structured. It had clear goals and allowed students to develop and also gain additional skills which would then become useful for returning to university.

Cons

Unsure job future due to the large amount of off shoring going on in the IT areas of the company. Some areas of the business could so with some new fresh ideas. IT placements and graduates were reduced due to offshoring so less opportunities for new staff to come in.

Good access to technologies and a good talented work force. A good brand to work for.

Cons

Decisons are made generally by working parties - no one seems to want to takle decisions for fear of blame.

Good learning opportunities with plenty of responsibility and interesting work. Full of genuinely nice people who are very good at the soft stuff (work-life balance etc). Lloyds TSB looks very long term at employees careers - very much encouraged to move round functions every 3-4 years to improve skills set. Also keeps the job interesting

Cons

Appear to pay less than other clearing banks for similar roles. Unlikely to be a larger player than it currently is. Anything IT related is useless. Fair share of people who have worked for the bank for their whole career and are looking for a quite life to see out the last few years to retirement.
