Pros
Culture varies greatly across sites, and even between projects. Good work life balance in most cases, relatively decent compensation, and the chance to work on some really interesting technology.
Cons
You're either working on something cutting edge or maintaining something 30 years old, and there's a culture clash there. Some projects can turn into death marches due to inexperienced project management. Career advancement is not very meritocratic, consisting of either mandatory promotions after a few years, or politics.
