Pros

Flexibility of job assignments and opportunities to expand skill sets. Since Lockheed is involved in so many projects you rarely become stagnant in your job. they encourage employees to gain flexibility and experience in multiple areas both within their discipline and across disciplines. Senior management has taken a very proactive approach to leadership and strongly advocates leadership vs. management.

Cons

Still very male dominated in the engineering workforce which is slowly changing but needs more hands on encouragement from senior management. Although senior management appears to be aware that leadership skills are important and how they treat their team is important this is not being effectively practiced by lower level managers.

Pros

Challenging work. Good benefits package. Reasonable hours. Projects can be leading edge and the employee community is strong and supportive. A good place to start a career, and very good leadership training programs if you can get in. Above average pay and benefits. Good emphasis on work-life balance and flex time schedule. Company encourages internal transfer to broaden skill base and experiences.

Cons

Lack of organization. Poor management. Communication between management and employees is close to zero. Knowledge sharing and transfer can be difficult if originated from older generation of employees. First line managers are below average in terms of training and qualifications.
