A long career at LM

Pros

Great benefits including Health Benefits, Flex Schedule (depending on manager), Woman CEO, stock performance.

Cons

May no longer be a good place for long term employment. The company now favors hiring lower level personnel and giving them higher level responsibilities in order to save money for stockholders. They have eliminated the pension plan. Within certain departments, it's still a boy's club.

Pros

One of the best reasons to work at LM is due to the ethics policies the employees uphold. The corporate environment of all-inclusiveness and diversity is apparent in the productivity and self-motivation of the employees I've had the privilege to know during my tenure there.

Cons

There is a lack of presence in north-western states like Illinois (particularly in Chicago). As an internationally-known government contractor, LM does not seem to offer locality a broad portfolio of states or large cities having a wealth of talented, skilled, highly educated workforce.

Pros

Pay is decent (especially with OT) but nothing special. I could probably make more working elsewhere. Work schedules are flexible and allow me to run errands in the middle of the day. I can take frequent breaks without anyone noticing. When I look around and see all the old people, I feel young and that makes me happy. They have yellow bikes you can ride when you're bored. I basically spend the bulk of my day surfing the web, checking facebook, and looking for creative ways to pass the time. And yes, they pay me to do that.

Cons

Work is NOT challenging. Most of it seems pointless. I would probably get rid of half the people since it seems like a lot of people do nothing. I can usually get most of my tasks and projects done pretty quickly, but then I have to figure out how to kill time the rest of the week. It's hard to stay motivated. Management seems moronic. There's an art to looking busy and it seems management can't tell the difference between those that work and those that pretend to work. I have friends that work tons of OT (even weekends) and are still level 1's, yet I've gotten promoted twice for doing nothing, just because I've had managers that liked me. It truly is like Office Space.
