Pros

Get to work on some of the most amazing assemblies, including satellites and fighter jets. Good work-life balance (depending on your work group). Flex-time. Great leadership development programs (including generous tuition reimbursement) for early career employees.

Cons

Too much bureaucracy throughout company and industry. Downturn in defense industry, with concerns of sequestration.

Pros

Hardcore engineers will get their fix Good compensation package You work among very smart engineers Pretty nice perks, like every other Friday off, plant shuts down for 1 1/2 weeks around holiday season (schedule may vary among facilities)

Cons

Working there is just a drab. Dull and old facilities, little motivation to succeed (other than the pride of an engineer solving a problem.) My site is a small one (<1000 employees, including factory operators) so we felt like a family, which was nice, but from what I hear it is not like that at all- brown nose, dog eat dog to get to management level
