Pros

Good job for new engineers starting out. Job security. Three weeks PTO. Unlimited sick time within reason. 1.5 to 2 week shutdown paid. 401K match 100% for 4%, then matches 50% for the next 4%.

Cons

Very little career growth unless you know someone influential. Slow to promote.

Pros

-The company makes technically challenging and relevant products for its customers -- no worries that the ultimate product your company makes is trite and inconsequential. -Employee population is diverse from an age perspective, so if you want to have a "work/life balance", you'll have empathetic management and peers -There are many technical avenues to take your career based on your interests and abilities.

Cons

-LM is not immune to large company politics -Pace of change may be frustrating to those with new ideas, but then again, ideas matter very little compared to effective execution -Compensation is average, by design

Pros

Good pay and benefits Stimulating, difficult work Civilian aerospace project that didn't feel morally compromised Fun coworkers with whom I'm still close Flexible scheduling

Cons

Huge company with matching bureaucracy Standard operating procedures limited possibility for innovation Most of their NASA projects ended, so if you don't want to develop weapons, your options are pretty limited today
