Pros

*Career Development Support - this company has huge training support available if you want to go back to school for a Masters degree, and will Pay for the whole thing. *Generally stable work environment - while the defense industries does have up and down swings, they are on longer cycles and you will see downturns coming far ahead of time.

Cons

*Bureaucracy - you are a number, and a statistic. *Complacency - this company attracts people who want to have 1 job for the rest of their lives. This is less frequently the ambitious, outgoing, and driven type of person.

Pros

-There are some highly intelligent employees and they are willing to mentor you. They are rarely in management though. -Occasionally you are really able to complete fulfilling work for your country

Cons

-ZERO investment in increasing talent of employees (no more available classes, on the job training is frowned upon) -Raises are nonexistent -Benefits are below average and seem to be getting worse -Project leads are incompetent, unprofessional, have no training, are not able to perform under pressure and very poor decision makers. -Ranking system: inconsistent and ineffective. Doesn't seem to motivate employees to do better work. -Short term profit - it seems that upper management is only interested in profits in the next quarter. They are willing to sell their (1 year distant) future away for a small profit now

Pros

9/80 schedule. Big company to move around on campus and at different locations world wide. Good work life balance depending on the program you are working, but in general its a typical work week. On site gym. The onsite cafe is so-so. It's not the best or best priced, but its convenient. People tend to be pretty nice. Nothing out of the ordinary with big corporations. You have the complainers that VPs and higher ups are too high paid, yada yada, and then you have the people who just get stuff done without complaining. In general it's a good place to work. Personal growth is definitely there if you are a go getter!

Cons

The only major con I see is that its a slow paced environment if no major contracts have been won. Also with any Aerospace job, you might be stuck creating a bracket/widget for years without ever seeing one made. There in a transition phase right now which causes a little bit of disconcern.
