Pros

Benefits are good, especially for families. The hours are flexible and most of the time, overtime is not required. If you have a life outside work or don't like working hard, you can make it so that you get your work done and go home. To a fault, you Lockheed provides job security.

Cons

The high job security makes it hard to trim the lesser qualified personnel. The company is slow to promote and reward hard work, but the opportunities exist to take on more responsibility. Taking on a larger role requires lots of initiative and self-motivation.

Pros

Great opportunity to work on lots of projects. You can work almost anywhere in the country. Some business units do support work at home programs. People are relatively friendly. Purpose of company is pretty good. Stock price is doing great.

Cons

Company is very top heavy and it can be difficult in getting promoted quickly. The pay is reasonable but definitely not on the high end. Managers have a tenancy to work their people to death. That can be a lot of under performing people that are kept because of their connections with upper management.

Pros

Great opportunities to try different facets of engineering. I'm originally a Software Engineer by trait but the company has allowed and encouraged me to dabble in Systems Engineering as well as Systems Administration. You truly get a great breadth of knowledge and appreciation for a company when they encourage their employees to see new things and work in an area they prefer and want to be in.

Cons

There is an ELDP program throughout Lockheed Martin designed specifically for engineering which identifies potential technical leaders and puts them through a rigorous training curriculum. The issue with the program is there was an inconsistency amongst Lockheed branches as to how the course was structured. Some members at certain sites had no technical curriculum to go through while others (ie- Syracuse NY, Moorestown NJ) had to dedicate nearly 30 hours weekly for course related work.
