Pros

Challenging & fast paced work, good matching on 401k, 4 day work week, small company raise/bonus every year and working remotely.

Cons

Complicated process, Hard to get acclimated, Diminishing work environment/culture, Poor management(micro managers, no experience as a manager), Too much reorganization(typically reorganizes staff's roles and managers every one to two years), Hard to get promoted if you value any sort of work/life balance. Easy to get lost in the shuffle: On many occasions, there were employees who had been stuck at the same level after 10-15 years with the company.

Pros

I work at Lockheed Martin - MFC in Grand Prarie and the work culture is great. All 4 managers I've had so far have been well trained, helpful, and looked out for their teams in terms of promotions/time of/career development. The pay is less than what a software engineer would make at a more tech oriented company but I believe I am fairly compensated. The time off I get it phenomenal, I have allocated PTO time which I can take a moments notice (though it is better to give managers time to plan for vacation and such). But days where I am mentally exhausted and burnt out, I am enabled to take as much time as I need to recharge. The work is pretty interesting, technically challenging, and worthwhile to do.

Cons

The pay is probably the biggest con. That isn't to say I am severely underpaid, but in comparison to compaines like Bank of America, BCG, fintech, or other similar companies, I am paid far less. The other biggest con is that some of the technologies are outdated due to maintenance requirements of certain government contracts and such. For example, requiring some software to maintain a C++98 standard when we are on 2023.

Pros

Some positions offer the opportunity to work on some really interesting things. There's also quite a few fantastic managers that truly care about their employees and advocate for their career advancement.

Cons

Some senior managers are incredibly out of touch. Myself and numerous of my friends have also had terrible experiences with hiring managers, in regards to communication and simple respect. I'd maybe expect some of the things for an external candidate, but not for a long term internal employee. You have to truly fight and keep moving around to get a deserved promotion, which is a shame.

Pros

4x10’s, decent wage, holiday plant shutdown, overtime, great coworkers.

Cons

Too many micromanaging managers, not enough workers. Lots of turn around in facilities and management can’t figure it out. Union leadership and representation makes you stagnant and incapable of growing your knowledge and skills. Facilities equipment is outdated and leadership is in a run to fail mentality and then won’t pay for expensive parts even when it does fail. No training to stay current on industry technologies. Do not get duped thinking you are going to work for the best or an industry leader when you go to work for Lockheed Martin Space, they build spacecrafts in barns.
