Pros

Lockheed offers very good training program for managers and addition coursework is available through the skillsoft web application. Overall the company maintains an ethical work environmemt.

Cons

If you are not working at one of the enterprise locations you are pretty much treated as a second class citizen. Additionally, enterprise applications were not compatible with the customers systems which created extra work

Pros

Good work-life balance and good benefits! A lot of smart individuals and good people.

Cons

Poor management. It is too easy to become a manager but very hard to grow in the technical path. Stay away if you don't like brown-nosing but if you like easy brainless work just come to work on time and pretend you work hard as long as you answer all your emails and go to all the meetings.

Pros

Ethical conduct among all employees in my program. Most of the people were genuinely good people. We had a good culture of cooperation, and most of the team was willing to help out each other. Good pay and relatively good benefits. A number of positions can be worked virtually (from home).

Cons

No defined pension plan (not uncommon), longevity at Lockheed strictly depends upon networking and your manager. There is a tendency to downgrade the level of positions, so that you are no longer competiitve (salary-wise) when having to look for another program to move to (when your contract is winding down). Job security is so-so and should/could be better for such a large company. The downside of being virtual is that you hardly have any face-to-face contact with the rest of your team.. out of sight, out of mind.

Pros

I was lucky enough to work with a great manager that trusted me to build my own team and appreciated every minute of overtime. Work life balance was great, LM allows for a 9/80 schedule. When the company had to downsize it offered a voluntary layoff to all employees.

Cons

The facilities are probably twice as old as me.

Pros

You'll find interesting and unique opportunities that you aren't likely to find, especially in the King of Prussia area. Paid time off is decent and the 401k plan is nice.

Cons

Long term employment prospects often seem unstable. The employment experience can vary greatly from group to group and manager to manager. Education assistance and health benefits have reduced in quality over the year.

Pros

Lots of different opportunities, different geographic locations, different skills to learn, products to work on. Experts in all different disciplines across the company. They pay for graduate school.

Cons

Easy to get lost or overlooked unless you're outspoken, marketing yourself within the workplace, or you happen to have a great manager. The company is not big on taking risks. The defense industry can be a somewhat stifling for creativity, new technology. Health benefits have gotten worse over the last 5-6 years. Salary is not as high as other industries. Corporate culture is all about "diversity" and other buzzwords and being politically correct.

Pros

People are amazing to work with. Ultimate professionals, team works well together, good culture. Managers are overall very competent. 3 weeks of vacation to start, 1 week of sick time. Every other Friday off. Flextime-telecommuting privileges. Promotions come from within almost always.

Cons

LM micro-manages their employees to no end. It goes as far as asking its employees to sign out on a white board when they leave. Pay is horrible, if you start as a level 1 employee, they wont negotiate with you. Promotions are nonexistent until you hit year 3-4. Switching jobs internally is also nearly impossible with poor performance review. Human resources reps are dishonest and misleading. LM has become a stepping stone for me. It looks decent on a resume but cant see anyone working here long term unless you have your MBA.

Pros

Co-Workers. Some good managers. Safety concerns addressed. Understanding it's bigger than you.

Cons

Too much management. Parking is a lot. Bad facilities. Health benefits. Resistant to change.

Pros

It was relatively easy to land a job here after college. The work is interesting and the company really works to give you the opportunity to advance. They also promote the matrix business model and they encourage moving between programs, even though the functional managers don't feel the same way.

Cons

The pay could be higher, but considering that I was able to get this job rather easily, I can't complain.
