Pros

Friendly work enviroment, potential to grow and move up in the company. endless job opportunity. I know that I can go as far as I want to with the company. My management team supports me in the decisions I make for my Department, my store manager has given me the opportunity to work in many different areas of the store.

Cons

Pay isn't always fair accross the board. Some Employees make more than they should where as other emloyees who deserve more money don't get it. Like Me getting a 2.5 % raise this year. Don't get me wrong I am very thankful to be getting a raise and Thankful that I have a job as bad as the economy is I just feel that it is unfair for someone in a postion lower than me on the Chain of command to make more money than I do.

Pros

Easy jobs to get. Minimum actual accountability. Basically if you fill your spot and don't make a scene nobody will bother you.

Cons

Inconsistent scheduling. They often schedule you every day of the week even if you're part time while trying to give you as few hours as possible with little regard for your availability. Then they expect you to actually get things done with the few hours you work when there aren't enough people to even help customers. You are told not to skip breaks, but it is obvious that you have to because there are never enough people to cover your shift. You are expected to complete online training every month, but you are never given time to complete it. The operations manager often will implement unfair and unreasonable policies such as the "Power Hour" where no one can take their lunch between 12:00 and 1:00 PM.

Pros

Retail is... well... retail. If you are going to work in a retail store location, than I have found that Lowe's is one of the better places to work. Great benefits, great environment, and at least in my location great people!

Cons

I have found at least in the location where I work is that the communication between upper management and department managers is horrible. Upper management tends to believe that the less we know what is going on the better. Also, it is widely believed that a department manager is the worst position to have in the entire company... you do not get any support when holding your own people accountable for their actions (or in-actions) and this is especially true when it comes to sales specialists who pretty much get away with murder. True leaders will excel in this position. have noticed that the "who you know's" get promoted before the "what you know's" every time... a good ole boys club.
