Pros

They make every attemp to promote from withing the company, wether it be that store or another store in the area. The benifits are fairly good in comparison to other companies I have worked for.

Cons

Once they have you marked they will go out of their way to terminate you. As Loss Prevention I was asked on several occasions to watch employees via camera to time breaks and look for other minor violations to allow them a reason to terminate the employees. Yet if they liked you I was never asked to do so and if I did happen to see them do something others were written up or terminated for nothing happened to them.

Pros

If you are unsatisfied with your position within the store, but are working hard, management will do their best to move you to a department that you are happier with. They try hard to give people many many many chances to prove themselves and they want them to succeed rather than fire them, or have them quit. If you tell a manager that you aren't comfortable with a task, they are good about getting you help and more training.

Cons

the people that really do mess up on the job don't ever seem to get written up. There are a lot of threats but very little write ups or terminations. The employees learn this quickly and love to call the managements bluff, by not caring what the "warning" is going to be for their actions.

Pros

Depending on your area, there is some interesting work to be done at Lowe's. Customer service was always top priority and customers definitely appreciate this. Customers consistently said they much preferred the environment at Lowe's compared to the rival Home Depot. There Good benefits package for full timers and decent benefits for part time employees.

Cons

There is not many advancement opportunities at Lowe's. Obviously this will differ from store to store, but management seemed rather incompetent and not willing to listen to suggestions from lower level employees. There is a lack of communication between management and employees. Employee morale seemed low and employees often talked about wanting to leave the store.
