Pros

It's a convenient place to work, a store is located in nearly every city - I've taken a position for extra money after an early retirement, and most importantly, for the health/dental/ and vision benefits. However, it seems they are cutting back on Blue Cross with higher premiums, and co-pays. Consider it a job, not a career.

Cons

Extremely mico-managed by District and home office. Originally hired as an RTM, however never told this position would be a planned cut from two to one a year after opening after Hurricane Katrina. I felt I was mislead. Downgraded to lower position to keep my job.

Pros

The people you work with are usually great. They are team oriented and customer focused.

Cons

For the amount of money you make, you have to give up your personal life as it relates to schedueling. There is no consistency nor consideration to work one consistent schedule which is not great if you have a family.

Pros

Lowe's provides a steady job that pays the bills and the benefits are decent, but not great. If you show up on time and do your job, you'll receive regular pay increases of about 5% a year. There are opportunities for bonuses, but they are hard to achieve. If you enjoy the retail industry, Lowe's is not a bad place to work.

Cons

There is very little opportunity for advancement at Lowe's. They talk a good story, but don't follow through. For example-- you can complete the entry management training program, but never receive a manager's position. Promotions are not based on merit--but rather on who you know. The job you are hired to do will be the job that you'll do forever. You may be able to switch departments, but it will be the same job.
