Pros

Incredible opportunities for everyone prepared to work ( I started my career in a wheelchair when the building society I worked for pensioned me off after 23 years employment, couldn't have a sales executive in a wheelchair) Met Mary Kay Ash 3 times) I was with Mary Kay Cosmetics over 11 years and only stopped when I lost my husband to cancer and was sick myself. I have Multiple Sclerosis by the way. I started as a consultant having my classes at home so invited people to come to me. I worked hard to develop a great customer base then built a team of ladies and trained them to do what I did. I always strived to be the best and my customers loved the attention and great after sales service. The only way to success is to be the best you can be. Other consultants didn't worry me, I focused on customer service and making the best use of my time. I took phone orders and packed goods early morning so my late husband could get them in the mail straight away. I gave free product to devoted customers who gave me referrals or who brought me new customers. ANYONE can succeed but you have to WORK at it. Mary Kay changed my life but doesn't do it for folk who don't take it seriously. Yes you can do it to supply yourself and family but you won't make money at it that way. YOU GET OUT WHAT YOU PUT INTO YOUR BUSINESS AND YES THIS IS A BUSINESS

Cons

The only downside was that some consultants are short on the truth when recruiting. You do not need any inventory BUT if you are serious about customer service you would want to get product sold at the class not have people waiting. I ALWAYS had skin care in stock but make up may have to be ordered as colours change quickly and I didn't want to get stuck with product. There are consultants who sell Mary Kay in markets, on Ebay etc who spoil it for others as the thing that makes MK different is the CUSTOMER SERVICE. Without it MK is just another (great quality) product that clutters up our dressing table drawers

Pros

One of Mary Kay's values is to treat others using the Golden Rule, and employees and leaders strive to do that daily. Our CEO believes in servant leadership. We all work together to achieve our mission of enriching women's lives. We offer the most rewarding opportunity in direct selling, and when you change a woman's life you also change her family's life. I enjoy what I do and who I work with. I am given new projects for my learning and growth that keep my job interesting. I still have bad days, but fewer bad days than I've had at other companies. Mary Kay isn't perfect, but many people are trying to do the right thing.

Cons

If you are looking for a highly innovative company, or one that funds a lot of research and development, or one where you can move up quickly, Mary Kay might not be the right fit for you.

Pros

Great culture, beautiful building, onsite healthcare

Cons

Dress code somewhat stifling, once you get past the beautiful facade you realize it's just like any other company.
