Medtronic is a flat organization, very little chance for advancement into a management role, high turnover rate, constant downsizing, employees are expendable to make the "street" happy, business units often develop their own career development plans with ridiculous expectations. A serious lack of trust in the honesty of management has led to plunging morale. Excruciatingly painful to implement any changes. Management encourages employees to make and implement decisions and then second guess them and change everything after process is well past the beginning stages. If you're lucky enough to get hired without one, BEWARE don't plan on being around for long without an MBA. Great starting place for book-smart fresh out of school MBAs with no experience - individuals with years of experience are highly undervalued. As for work/life balance, if you don't manage it with an iron fist it will be non-existent. They will suck the life out of you if you allow it.
