Pros

Medtronic products make people’s lives better.

Cons

The CEO, Geoff Martha, is struggling. Executive leadership is mostly made up of yes men and good old boys. Medtronic is struggling because of a restructure during Covid (who does that?) and a lack of capable leadership.

Amazing people, low pay

Pros

I've never worked with such amazing people and teams. People hold themselves accountable for project completion, are open to hearing other ideas and getting to know their colleagues on a personal level. Work/life balance was one of the best I've experienced. I enjoyed how structured the company was and the amount of knowledge and expertise everyone had.

Cons

The compensation is so low. I couldn't continue working here with the small merit increases they give annually. My manager also wasn't great at helping me develop my career and how to navigate the company to move into a new role. The career opportunities are there within the company, my manager just wasn't aware of how to help their employees. Many people on my team left for other roles or different OU.

Pros

Strong Mission; Great products Wonderful pedigree & reputation

Cons

1) Succession of management changes have made the company extremely inwardly focused. Hardly anyone is focused in the customer. 2) Too many internal meetings with people's competence is being judged by their ability to present PowperPoint charts that talk a good game but have no substance. 3) Product pipeline has been talked up heavily but there is hardly any new innovation 4) Too many layers of management slow down decisions. Also burdens with costs 5) HR practices lack transparency - usually biased towards known elements
