Pros

Working at Medtronic can be a rewarding experience, especially if you value mission-driven work and want to make an impact in healthcare. The company’s purpose — developing medical technologies that improve lives — is something many employees genuinely believe in and appreciate.

Cons

While many aspects of working at Medtronic are positive, there are recurring themes about limitations and frustrations, especially around career growth and management. The overall company atmosphere over the past few years has really spiraled downward with a lack of morale and compensastion.

Pros

Medtronic is a company with comprehensive benefits and strong capabilities.

Cons

The downside is that business lines are strictly categorized. If you can't land a top-tier product line, salespeople won't have a promising career path.

Pros

Medtronic creates great products that help millions of people a year. It is exciting to be a part of that. Most of the people that I've worked with have been friendly and helpful.

Cons

Leadership has high expectations, but enacts heavy cost restrictions that make it difficult to be effective. Historically, they cut travel in Q4 but they are starting to cut into Q3 as well, in order to improve the stock price and make sure leadership gets their bonuses, but it forces employees to cram a year's worth of work into 7-8 months, ruining our work/life balance. In spite of inflation, Medtronic has not increased its meal and hotel allotments in over a decade, making it increasingly difficult to stay in safer places and eat healthy meals when traveling for work. Pay is less than most competitors, so we keep losing people and having to re-hire, which is more costly than just paying people more to begin with.
