Pros

The office and some of the people you work with are amazing. I learned a lot from working in the industry (not through my role) and met some lifelong friends.

Cons

If you work in Sales, you are considered royalty. Mangers are promoted carelessly and have little to no experience. There are perks, special trips and dinners for those in sales but nothing for everyone else. Your company would not be where it is today without the other people. Some departments are thrown in the corner away from the rest of the company. My manager frowned upon us socializing with other departments and did not allow us to grow within our position.

Sales or Bust!

Pros

Location, location, location! The new branding is quite innovative and interesting and the office space is quite nice.

Cons

This is truly a sales driven organization. If you aren't in sales, don't expect any attention to paid to you or any of the work that you complete. Many initiatives are led by folks in the sales organization who may not have had previous experience working in a similar capacity for larger organizations. Thought process is immature and there is no real collaboration as the CEO will always have the final say in any decision. In addition, folks in the sales org have been promoted to positions within Marketing, Finance, Product and the like and are not necessarily qualified. There are limited to no opportunities for growth if you are not in sales. The sales team seems to have multiple middle-managers, whereas those who support sales - internal operations, are required to maintain the same volume and quality of work with the same number of headcount as the sales org grows. So as the work increases, the likelihood you will be able to progress decreases. Extreme, extreme favoritism towards those who are in sales. There are programs intended to reward those who are high performers, however, most employees are not privy to the actual goals one must complete to be nominated. No transparency as to who sits on the board of directors - doubtful there will be an exit (IPO) in the future for this company. If they could have it their way, most likely they will remain a private company until the end of days.

Pros

People. The culture at Meltwater is unique. Silicon Valley veterans who have advised and are currently working at Meltwater will tell you that there is no other place like it. You are pushed hard, have fun, and feel apart of something special.

Cons

Sales isn't for everyone.
