Pros

Good benefits, location, office and views. On-site gym. Fun activities/events. Interesting people.

Cons

Most managers that are promoted here are not promoted because they have great management skills/potential. No room for growth and pay raise unless you are friends with higher management and intend to keep their same arrogant mentality going. Super BRO atmosphere. Managers are allowed to just dictate people and treat ppl poorly to feed their own egos. Unprofessional sales ppl including management. Quotas and territory alignment are decided by director and manager and well we know where that is going (downhill). Time off is not as easy as it seems to take off. Work Life Balance is there for some and not others depending on manager.

Pros

- Amazing office atmosphere, you feel like you have a work family. - Great support structure. I've made use of loads of benefits and support tools (gym membership, counselling service, employee discount scheme) All of which is there to make your life easier. - The only pressure I feel is what I put on myself to pay back a great company to work for. All feedback from management is positive and aimed at improving how you achieve your goals. Meraki is all about success and improvement. - You're actively encouraged to try new ways of working and feedback results with the wider team. - Management recognise hard work and constantly think of new ways they can reward your efforts. I've tried to keep my comments away from materialistic things but if you want to know, the office is incredible (people ask to view the office for ideas to use in their own) so it's a great place to come to work everyday. There are snacks everywhere as well as a fully stocked kitchen you can use to make breakfast, healthy food as well! Not just junk. Imagine the masterchef kitchen but at work. Lunch is provided daily by excellent caterers. The games room is awesome! There's a pool table, ping pong table, PS4, Wii, Virtual reality computer and a screen most cinemas would be proud to have. If you're lucky enough to work here you might find the secret room as well!

Cons

- Meraki is a full on place to work. You have to embrace it and if you don't I can imagine it would be overwhelming. - Some systems are a mixture of new Meraki and old Cisco, which can be challenging and frustrating to use. - The natural career path at Meraki is from inside sales rep to field rep or team manager. Only a handful of people have become managers (mainly due to the size of the company and roles becoming available) only a few inside reps have made it to field reps and all have been to work with managed channel partners. It seems this is a big jump to make and one that's not clearly supported with training.

Pros

Culturally, Meraki has retained all of the great things about start-ups (one exception noted below), while getting rid of the toxic parts of start up culture. Like a start up, you're working with people who are hella smart and hella driven. Meraki engineers tend to come from top engineering universities, be passionately engaged in various activities outside of work (climbing, backpacking, music, brewing, martial arts, sports, etc etc), and very willing and able to socially engaged with you in a work context. Not sure how something works? Ask the gal that built it and she'll probably drop what she's doing and talk or pair-program with you until you have a good idea what's going on. Not sure why a decision was made? Hop over to your manager's manager's desk and get a pleasant and unguarded explanation. The physically and socially open office layout is a strong holdover from this company's start-up days. Lunches? Beautifully catered. Dinners? Pick a restaurant. Snacks? All of them. I'm talking fresh berries, avocado toast. Plus, you won't find any (or, okay, very little, may depend on team) of the alpha-male/alpha-nerd/tech-bro egotism or terrible work-life balance often associated with start-ups. There's a strong 40hr/week culture. I could sum it up like this: there are still two kegs in the office, but one's filled with kombucha, and the other with cold-brew coffee.

Cons

Unlike a start up, engineers aren't here to change the world. Or disrupt any market. You're grandma won't recognize the name of your company. You're here to make products that will sell better, and to marginally increase the quality, accessibility, and feature set of networking products. Sometimes that's sad. But far more often, it's really great. Because you're not working with people self-centered enough to be in it for the glory. You're not working with people who want to use their intelligence to make a name for themselves. You're working with people who want to work in a friendly environment and build good products. Which usually feels like a healthy and productive place to be. Also if you're scared of dogs, this is probably not the place for you. (If you love dogs, there are many cuddles to be had).
