Pros

Global company. Working with different teams in different geographical regions was certainly fun. Opportunity to travel and to meet your peers worldwide. It was very easy (and also encouraged) to ask for help from anyone (and I mean anyone); and surely you could receive help from colleague. Work-life balance - having strong Finnish culture, the company is extremely flexible on your work-life tradeoffs. you can agree practically any arrangement with your line manager; and that is one of huge positive aspects. Flat organization structure - it really helps if you can go to anyone, including very senior managers, and approach them with your problems, issues, concerns. It is in company's culture to try to help, and back-stabbing is almost non-existent.

Cons

not enough accountability for actions; relatively rigid organization

Pros

Work Culture is great. People support each other very well. The senior management encourages openness and camaraderie within the teams. Brand: The fifth most vauable barnd is still a benchmark in terms of organization and processes within. You get recognized outside well if you are from Nokia. Flexibility: Easy work times, one can manage his personal and professional life well in Nokia. Learnings: Great place to learn. It has a history of successes and each can be a worthy case study. Opportunities to advance career: Performers are rewarded well in terms of career path and movement upwards in the organization or in geographies.

Cons

Salary: The salary is a pity. Pathetic to put it the other way. The slaries drawn in Nokia an x level = salaries drawn in competing companies in x-2 levels. No transparency in remmuneration (a junior employee can earn more than a mid senior manager): A management trainee can earn more than a 4 years old professional in the company. Not exactly seet for the mid level manager. Company culture is risk averse: Nokia has goofed up in its foray into internet services. It still is investing but the organization is too huge to learn new tricks and accomodate change.

Pros

The leader in the telecom industry Innovative designs Good training opportunities Opportunities to travel overseas Opportunities to make real difference to product lifecycle Strong participation in all major standardization bodies Good cooperation from NSN for testing new technologies

Cons

It still remains a "Finnish" company All of the major decision are still made in Helsinki Emphasis on US market is minimal Glass ceiling - most of major senior positions are given to Finnish folks Needs to lead better - not only from technological, but from strategy perspective. Needs better partnership and JV Not-invented-Here syndrome sometimes shows up Too slow adopting new methodologies Needs to be more aggressive in acquisition strategies Needs to find the "next big thing" Needs to improve internal knowledge sharing
