Pros

The company has a great environment and is very family friendly. I have had very good experiences and have a role in which I feel a great sense of responsibility and garner a great deal of respect. I know that I am working in an industry that will show continued growth in the future, so I feel a sense of security in that my role will be around for awhile longer. The benefits (not including salary), are some of the best in the industry. When I compare with my counterparts in other companies very few companies in this sector provide benefits even close to what Nokia provides its employees.

Cons

Nokia currently has very little opportunity for upward growth or mobility. Everyone is at the same of similar level in responsibilities, but not in pay. With economic times being tougher training is taking a big hit, which also limits growth opportunities inside the company. The more costly and useful training is provided to high level managers, or the "very" few individuals on the fast track. Most of the valued development work is done in Europe, which sometimes relegates North American personnel to positions of support, with very little opportunity to provide input on those concerns uniquely specific to the Americas. I think if they want to continue to use the words "Respect for the individual", they can start by recognizing the individuals and their inputs.

Pros

Nokia offers the opportunities to interact with people from all over the world. Interacting with multiple cultures broadens each of our own horizons and allows us to learn how different people perceive similar situations. Although there are new remote communication tools available, there is nothing more beneficial than a face-to-face meeting.

Cons

Working with people from all over the world makes scheduling meetings somewhat challenging. Salary increases are less than satisfactory since not even a cost of living increase is provided, which means we are taking a net reduction in pay.
