Pros

Worked along with an excellent engineering team, good synergy and developed innovative products in the leading edge of technology. Great benefits and stock options.

Cons

Yearly review process was not effective to receive promotions or pay raises. It was already decided by the time you were writing your own review portion. However I was satisfied with my pay and benefits. It was dependent on your manager and how much he would fight for you.

Pros

Technically, very challenging processor development roadmap. The Sun Microsystems legacy engineers, in general, are very talented and are collegial in working with others.

Cons

Serious disconnect between product roadmap and needs of the computer industry. Oracle procurement practices are very bureaucratic and lack sufficient flexibility to enable engineering staff to respond to changes in technical requirements. Lack of opportunity for advancement in hardware part of the company
