      Good work life balance, but....

      Pros

      Good work life balance. If you are good at what you do it is fairly easy to stand out. Resonably good variable compensation package (options and bonus). It is a company set up to succeed in the enterprise space (given its size).

      Cons

      Career growth options are limited especially if you are in a group with by an underperforming leader. Work can get boring quickly and you don't really have an option to use tools that are best of breed (you must use oracle tools whether or not they are the best).

      Pros

      Telecommuting and technology provide work schedule flexibility, while providing the opportunty to work across organizational, cultural and country boundaries.. The work ethic and environment attracts and keeps excellent people. There are lots of opportunities to take on new challenges and the company is large enough to transfer across groups.

      Cons

      There is a very demanding culture within Oracle, while at the same time internal politics can prevent getting things done. Telecommuting can be isolating when travel is limited or controlled during spending freezes. Training is difficult to accomplish, although opportunties for receiving training are abundant day to day activities take priority.

      Pros

      Orace has great opportunities for carrer advancement. The ability to work anywhere in the world is another advantage when working for a global organisation. Oracle invests a lot of time and effort in training its employees, both from internal resources as well as externally, through sales training methodologies to management training. Oracle do take their involvement with Corporate Social Responsibility fairly seriously and encourages staff to be involved as much as possible, this affords you the opportunity to help out in the community.

      Cons

      The inability of management to provide the tools required by the staff to to their jobs is a major hinderence when working at Oracle. Due to the differring reporting lines and varying agendas of each business unit, it's very difficult to get a holistic pictur eof what Oracle are ever doing with respect to a specific client at any one point in time.
