Pros

Reputational company that opens doors for opportunities at other companies. Access to comprehensive technology and experience in various industries, so this helps in building your resume.

Cons

Professional Service in Oracle has limited career upside. Unless you are at HQ, or have ability to network extensively with managers (higher ups) you will not have any visibility. This is especially true for field consultants, no relationship with others except via email and occasional vmail with your practice manager. Also, consulting model within Oracle is moving to offshore/onshore where majority of consultants are remote-based, or imported on a rotational basis into US for work. This means that the US based consultants reduced to team lead aspects, with majority of consultants from overseas oracle divisions.

Pros

Leading edge of technology. Lot of oppurtunity for lateral move. The level of accountability was low . A large number of employees were added in India to take after hour work. Oracle lets employees work remotely which is boon considering the cost of gas. There are a lot of learning oppurtunities in Oracle.

Cons

Low salary. Promotions based on subjective reviews. No HR review. Jobs were moved to LCLM( Low cost labor Market) . That is how the technocal employees are treated( Labor ). Focus is too much on profitability and the employee benefits are being cut everyday. Off shoring is causing a lot of problem.

Pros

It's a port in the storm. While chaos reigns in Silicon Valley, Oracle has seen steady growth, and is a very stable company. Also, barring layoffs, it's very hard to get fired.

Cons

It's a very top-down command-and-control structure. Lower level employees don't get any authority. Pretty much everything has to be cleared at the top. This causes unnecessary delays, and results in lost opportunities in pretty much everything.
