Good product, terrible leadership

Pros

- The products (Backup, Seeding and Archive) do what it says they do. - Most employees are great and smart people

Cons

- Recent leadership decisions have impacted the business negatively: spamming prospects, forcing hands to sign quickly with pathetic discounts - Layoffs handled terribly - Sales strategy is not relying any more on the actual potential of the products - Core products lack innovation and the focus is spent on heavy/costly products and features instead of improving what's really important for the customers - Short term sales strategy used to inflate numbers for different regions

We agree with you that our products are great. In fact, we have over 500 five-star reviews on the Salesforce AppExchange, and over 6,000 happy customers. We understand that recent leadership decisions may have raised your concerns, but rest assured, our leadership team is committed to making the best decisions for the company's growth and success. We are constantly evaluating our strategies and are open to constructive feedback. The decision to reduce our workforce last year was not easy, however we handled and communicated them with empathy and transparency. We value all our employees and their contributions, past and present. Like most SaaS companies, OwnBackup will sometimes offer a discount to a potential customer in exchange for opting for a multi-year contract. However, we never apply pressure on customers or resort to unfair tactics. Innovation is at the core of our business, and we are continuously investing in research and development to bring amazing products and solutions to our customers. We encourage our employees to share their ideas and actively contribute to our innovation efforts.

Pros

-market leading data backup product to sell to Salesforce customers -sales training & tools for AE’s -private health insurance reimbursed -milestone cash bonuses in contract during 6-month ramp up -opportunity for equity in the company

Cons

-Just over 12 months after Australian (ANZ) operations commenced, and with no strategy, no support, no marketing, ANZ is underperforming. So HQ purged the entire ANZ sales team. They got rid of everyone in sales (except managers!). Then hired a bunch of replacement sales reps only to purge them too, 6 months later. This place is a graveyard for sales reps. -You’re just a line item on a spreadsheet here. Meaning no one feels their job is safe. As such managers will absolutely throw reps under the bus to buy themselves some extra time on this sinking ship. -Massively over hired sales reps relative to the total addressable market. -Go-to-market strategy outside the USA is a blank sheet of paper. -Endless lip service about HQ's commitment to ANZ operations but they never spent a cent here. Unsurprisingly, 2 years after launching, ANZ operations are basically shut down. -Many reps were ex-Salesforce and well connected within the Salesforce ecosystem which should make selling into Salesforce customers a slam dunk, however, sales territories were created with zero forethought and a copy & paste quota from the US, resulting in capable & experienced sales reps being set up to fail from the start.
