Pros

- Suite of products for Salesforce are good and have real value - They like to burn loads of money on company events no one asks for that won't yield any return for the business - Swag is nice

Cons

- It's a blatantly obvious game of favorites to everyone at the company. Certain people that have been at company for a while can completely miss their goals and do a terrible job and they'll be promoted or put in new positions they don't deserve while others are let go for much much less. Sales leaders basically do whatever they want and run the company, which is now running the company straight to the ground. Execs basically don't even matter because of how much sale leaders control the narrative at the company. - Tech company without tech level talent. Recruiters basically beg anyone with a pulse to come work here because it's challenging to recruit for a company that isn't attractive to work for (minus for people who can barely get jobs elsewhere). It's quite a dull product. This is a place where people who are at the twilight of their careers or people with no experience or people who can't get jobs elsewhere work. - RTO policy. They are requiring people to come into office 3-5 days a week. While other companies may be doing the same, it hurts this particular place more because they are in NJ and more so because they were at it's best when no one was actually going in. Why would anyone want to commute to Jersey when they can just work in NYC or closer to where they live with better pay. It would be nice if they at least were a little more original and not use "Better Together" like other companies already are. - Exec team seems subpar (not all). These are mostly people who would never be in the same position elsewhere. - Times are about to get real tough

Thanks for your feedback. We agree that our products provide value, and so do our 5,000 happy customers. We also have nearly 500 positive reviews on the Salesforce AppExchance. We invest in our employees in different ways- one of them is through our company events like MKO, happy hours, and other offsite meetings. We believe that these events provide great returns- like the time and setting for valuable conversations to take place and relationships to flourish. Conversation, connection, and relationships are also why we find it so important to have our workforce back in the office. There is no replacement for human connection and the culture it produces. In terms of the company’s ability to attract top talent, we are extremely selective and work hard to secure the best talent available. Only 1% of candidates who apply to the company are hired, and our recruiters are extremely busy curating the top applicants. If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me directly. Thank you. -Alyssa Lahar, CHRO

Pros

High Growth. Majority of the Leadership is strong and cares. The team members and product(s) are amazing!

Cons

There are a number of strong "cons" even though there are many "pros." While working at Own, the team I was on all told me that Unlimited PTO has been being promised for years. But there are tons of excuses. "We are based in Israel, and have global operations, so this is difficult" is the primary one. Recently Own hired a Head of People. And the same excuses are passed along even though there are many companies based in Israel with global operations that have implemented Unlimited PTO. It's not that hard and they didn't need to reinvent the wheel. During 2020 there were many challenges. The company put on a decent 'face' on caring about the issues that were prevalent, such as Black Lives Matter. But, the CEO refused to publicly acknowledge the issues, or support them. In addition days like Martin Luther King Day, Juneteenth, and even election day are not company holidays. The team communicated that "we support you voting"...but do they if they don't actually give you the day off? Many team members said they would've really appreciated the day off for voting, and still would've worked! The disconnect on social issues is disappointing. The lack of diversity is also disappointing. It has improved recently (even though there was pushback from the leadership when the internal teams began 'campaigning' for these needed changes', but it has been in spite of the CEO vs. with his support. I will say that the CEO is very revenue focused and is strong on the business side, but very disconnected when it comes to anything not "directly related" to revenue. Yes many people are upset there isn't 401k. The more concerning item is when you get a promotion, or have been there longer than 4 years, you don't get additional stock. advice to management: See the cons. Bad Executive Leadership

Pros

Great Product Can make good money depending on segment and territory

Cons

Everything except the product If you don't get a good territory, no matter the segment (SMB, Commercial, or Enterprise), it will be extremely difficult to succeed. Those who have the Bay Area, NYC, Boston do well in every segment. If you don't get one of those territories, or maybe other large cities like Chicago or Atlanta.... Good luck... One of their values is "Build Trust Through Transparency", but that couldn't be further from the truth. They lie about everything. Forced Return to Office (3+ days for most of company, 5 days week for others) except for when they wanted to do mass layoffs, then it was okay for everyone to work from home and they fired everyone behind a computer screen Showed zero remorse for lay offs and never really showed like they cared about their employees. Felt like a number as it got very corporate very fast. They are just worried about going public and will do anything to anyone to make that happen. They over-hired, especially across the sales org and fired people with 3, 4, and 5 months of tenure, never even giving them a chance or opportunity to succeed with an unrealistic quota. It's very political and people go places that play the corporate game. Leadership is weak at the top as they over projected revenue for 2022 and then about 20% of their employees around the world had to pay for it. Pay is below average for most roles and super stingy about negotiating a higher salary. Also, they say unlimited PTO, but that's not entirely true as you will be judged for the amount of time you take off.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback on your experience with OwnBackup. We are sorry to hear that you were impacted by our decision to eliminate certain roles throughout the business. While we’ve grown significantly year over year, the world has changed much more dramatically and as a result we have had to make a strategic organizational realignment. While this decision was extremely challenging, we remain positive about our future. In terms of salary and PTO, we offer competitive salaries that are above the market average and offer unlimited PTO to ensure that everyone’s work/life balance is respected and considered. We wish you the best of luck in your next chapter and thank you for your contributions to OwnBackup.
