Pros

The health insurance coverage is good.

Cons

Extremely low pay for the market (some positions pay less than Target and your working in a highly regulated environment with chemical exposure). Expectation to work long hours when in management/poor work life balance Zero guidance for first line supervisors, especially those working alternate shifts Denied additional training by management and told 'its not necessary for the job' when it really is No career development whatsoever and you will be stuck in the same position with very limited option for promoting internally Recorded record profits but raises across the board wouldn't cover basic cost-of-living increases for employees Extremely high employee turn-over in all departments Encountered several instances of data falsification, which would not be address by upper management.

Pros

They are not unethical in clinical trial conduct.

Cons

This entire company has a business model based on understaffing and demanding insane work hours. Management takes pride in a macho attitude of rudeness and disregard for creating a humane place to work. I have worked in 3 different CROs and PPD has an utterly miserable workforce.

Great training for professionals, less so for managers

Pros

At the beginning of my career training at PPD was (and still is) awesome. The higher you climb the ladder though, the more you are expected to figure things out on your own. Reliable company both for employees and clients. Great colleagues, many highly competent professionals.

Cons

Lack of appetite to innovate. On multiple occasions I've seen PPD dismissing great ideas in favor of continuing to do the same old familiar thing. Patching up processes and systems rather than investing in a more fit-for-purpose solution appears to be the general preference. There are a lot of really competent people in the work force but they're not being heard. The competitions on the other hand ensures to jump on the innovations train as soon as possible and by the time PPD wakes up, they're 2-3 years ahead. Senior management has no vision or at least not one that's current to the 21st century.
