Pros

Working with some very intelligent and competent coworkers is quite rewarding, especially within the software engineering group. The pay is also comfortable, and as a full time employee you get decent benefits and a nice contribution to your 401k.

Cons

Despite the few number of intelligent and competent coworkers that you might get to work with, there are others who don't seem fit for their position or are poorly managed. A technical writer for instance is given responsibility for working with a designer to determine the final design for a product. The company is customer centric so customer demands often change priorities which often results in everyone dropping their projects and focusing on a new request. These new requests, though, have to go through a series of different departments for handling requirements, payment, engineering, etc. and I've personally found myself doing work due to customer demand urgency but then holding off due to the fact that the work was not actually paid for. Other instances include receiving emails flagged as important for customer requests that don't actually get addressed until months later. A lot of work is allocated to third party companies which adds layers upon layers of more bureaucracy to manage. Schedules seem to vary from position to position. Contract workers and hourly workers typically work their 8 hours but often times other program managers or project managers can find themselves working 12 hour days whether they are salary and hourly (without extra pay) due to international calls or issues with the program. Outside of the marketing group, the company does not seem to understand how to properly utilize graphic and ux/ui designers.

Pros

PAC is a big company with a lot of departments, so I can only speak for my department, ALST. This position interfaces with many departments, from marketing to program and project management to tech pubs to engineering, in addition to meeting and working with the customer directly. Unique in the breadth of experience. This can be a good launchpad to jump into one of many other divisions at PAC. The managers are very respectful of personal time, vacation requests properly filed are rarely denied, and the culture is generally positive.

Cons

I don't think being an ALST focal is one of the better jobs at PAC. Skills specific to this department are not particularly transferable in the long run. Stress can be high at times given your broad responsibilities for planning, coordinating, and executing tasks with so many departments, often for several projects running in parallel. A number of colleagues in my short tenure have moved on to other departments and positions within a couple years. MTS I and II are hourly positions with OT, and previously the focals and managers had the discretion to spend extra time on priorities as they arose, but recently it's become tightly regulated at a much higher level. It feels odd to leave a priority task unfinished at the end of a busy day after a denied OT request, but of course it's best to be honest on your timesheet. However without OT, I'm not sure the pay is commensurate with the work. Upper management seems distant. Organizational and procedural changes at all levels, even from middle managers, are communicated only by e-mail.

Pros

Positive towards employees...almost impossible to get fired...coworkers are pleasant, willing and they train persons new to industry

Cons

Cost of living in area too high...start up relies on Tesla which seems doomed..language barrier with Japanese staff..though they are a peasant culture..well mannered...
