Pros

If you like extra money theres lots of OT. 401k & health benefits, company car, cell phone, laptop & tools. Work from your home as your base location.

Cons

There's lots of OT & its often not optional. 2.5% average annual raises dont keep pace with inflation of 3%. So annually you are taking a .5% pay cut to stay employed. Poor life balance, constant pit in stomach when out during any small down time just thinking about the next piece of equipment to break.

Great benefits, hard to rise

Pros

Philips provides very good benefits, although a bit skimpy on the sick time. Pay is pretty much strictly at the median. Good place to start and get your feet under you. Lots to learn all the time.

Cons

Very very difficult to rise or change positions within the company. HR has a death grip on mobility within the company. The commitment to a downtown location was not well thought out. So much lost time and effort just getting to work and getting home. The IT infrastructure seems to be from the 1980's. We have learned how to work around a broken set of linked software systems. The open work environment with piped in white noise is also poorly thought out and about 10 years behind the times, and with only half the banks of lights able to be adjusted. If you find yourself under the on all the time lights, be prepared for eye strain problems....lol. Lastly, bonuses for hourly are terrible. Apparently tied to the worst performing divisions so regardless of how well you do or how hard you work, you get the shaft.

Hi there, thank you for taking the time to write down your experiences as a Philips employee. I'm sorry to hear you've been having difficulties to rise within our company and that you're not too pleased about the IT structure. It's a good thing you shared this here because management is active on this platform as well. You may consider your feedback duly noted. I do recommend talking to your HR manager if you have the ambition to change positions. A bit more awareness within HR can only help, right? I hope you will be able to improve your experience with us and I wish you all the best in your career.

90 days notice period, which is the worst thing in philips. Manager won't leave you before that.
