The company is so focused on meeting quarterly objectives for Wall street that they make bad decisions to accomodate short term results that cause long term problems. Many divisions have bee downsized so much that they are unable to produce great products, great marketing and high sales because the employees who are left are so swamped with work. Applications personnel are overworked and ineffective. Sales people are treated like second class citizens. Front line managers here are simply number collectors. They have no time to develope their people and even if they did, the employees are shifted between managers so much, they barely know the people who work for them. HR requires a "PPM" review each year of each employee, which is a good start, but it's not really effective because the managers are usually out of touch with the employees they manage.
