Pros

The work at Philips is very chalenging and provides the opportunity for personal satisfaction. Much can be learned from reviewing and correcting legacy code used in current and past products. Philips has an excellent cafeteria and it also provides an excercise center for those interested.

Cons

Too much personal time and effort is required to meet milestones set by middle and upper management. The office environment is small with too many hallway meetings, making it often too noisy to think. The environment was not created to promote ingenuity or creative thought. It is also not capable of supporting plant life.

Company uses upto 50 percent temps to avoid paying benefits Temps have little to no chance og becoming full-time employees Management sometimes hires friends and family over more qualified canidates

Innovative technologies that have a meaningful impact on the world (medical imaging systems).

Cons

Extremely old and conservative company. Too consensus based. Overly siloed and fragmented accross business units (EU) and key markets that do not work together. Its easy to get pigeonholed in a portions of a "career" you would experience at most other companies. Philips is very poor at integrated marketing (strategic/tactical is separate). Very few leaders understand how business works, only how Philips does business. A lack of career development initiatives and career opportunities.
