Pros

I honestly can't think of any. The store is close to home, just wrote that to make up the required number of words.

Cons

Where do I start? No staff discount Bossy rude management with no 'people skills', I think they're all stuck in a rut. Boring, repetitive work. No flexibility in working pattern or chance to move up the ladder. Horrible uniform. Pay is minimum wage. (Managers are well paid and revel in telling the rest of the staff)! Have to provide your own tea, coffee etc.. Store manager not proactive, spends all day looking at social media in her office. Management get very stressed when a visit from the area manager is expected and pass this stress onto the staff.

Pros

Fellow staff can be friendly, large canteens usually (except in smaller stores). Easy interview process and usually overtime opportunities.

Cons

Have to purchase own compulsory uniform with no discount. No discount in stores. Very strict rules in terms of appearance. Have to complete 10 hour shifts with NO WATER allowed on the shop floor even if hidden and no toilet breaks allowed without being yelled at or questioned. Holiday requests frequently ignored. No air conditioning - very hot in summer (incredibly busy shop). Girls only allowed to wear dolly shoes and during a 10 hour shift this becomes incredibly painful. No piercings, no tattoos, minimal makeup etc. Rotas changed without notice. Just generally not a nice place to work.

Pros

I've worked for Primark for 6 years and love my job. The store I'm in has a great management and supervisor team who are friendly but are firm when needed without being nasty. All my other colleagues are friendly too, we're all like one big family. I work on the customer service desk and 98% of the customers we get are very nice, just the occasional nasty one. Many customers are regulars so you build a rapport with them. I have a set shift, same hours Monday to Friday which is good.

Cons

I wish they paid more than the living wage and year round discount would be nice, not just a few weeks before Christmas
