Pros

lots of overtime. lots of holidays (paid). short or long shifts available. plenty of breaks. you have your own section which you are in charge of which reduces the workload.

Cons

The managers just do not trust the staff at all. I'm sure they have had good reasons for this with theft in the past but retail operatives do not have any responsibility and cannot do anything without a supervisor over their shoulder. it's sort of like being at school we have to tell our supervisor/manager exactly what we are doing and where we are going if we have to leave the floor to go to the stock room etc. We have to call a supervisor every time we want to take an item off the tills for a customer instead of just being able to do it ourselves which wastes time and frustrates the customer. Pretty much everyone there is fed up and all they talk about is how much they want to quit which de motivates everyone else. There is a very low staff retention rate.
