Pros

The hours work well for me as a Mum, Other staff very friendly generally a good moral in the store

Cons

I actually don’t hate working here, but there is a manager who literally BULLIES staff members by intimidation to the point he makes them sweat from nerves and a lot of the girls end up crying then he will laugh or at the least smile when he sees your distressed... he has so many complaints against him but still is BULLYING people by intimidating them on shop floor in front of customer and screaming orders at them like a drill Sargent in the army... I am going to try my hardest to get primark to take seriously our complaints against him but until then he has completely ruined my morale at work and as I feel so alone and unsupported by other managers and HR, I can’t say I’m happy with primark at the moment.

Pros

Long breaks, easy work, easy to pick up overtime, sociable job. Staff room is decent, but the vending machine was always broken.

Cons

Almost impossible to progress through the company, long hours just focused on recovery, need supervisor permission to do anything on the till besides scanning and taking payment, some managers are incredibly petty, immature and sarcastic. If you're weekend staff you get looked down on by EVERYONE, including weekday staff, customers and management. They assume because everyone is younger and/or a student, they're incapable of doing their job. Because weekend staff are younger there is often a lot of drama between staff members. Considering Primark is a big company, we got no decent perks. No discount except 2 weeks at Christmas and even then it's minimal. There's a lot of pressure put on staff to take overtime, and you're made to feel guilty if you need to take time off. "A shower" often cures the most savage of illnesses according to management.
