Pros

Friends can be made but everyone's very cliquey if you work on tills you're friends come from tills, I have one friends that's one department... she started in tills and I trained her. We get each other through the shifts by making witty comments. Everyone works together when it's almost time for the store to close Pay is decent Hours are available to suit everyone I only one shift a week

Cons

Pay is decent but I do the same work as older people and get paid far less Managers can be horrible and give you unrealistic tasks - I got told to tidy a whole section on a different floor by myself No staff perks I'm meant to have two breaks and a lunch but they use a split shift so they don't have to give me a break because it's technically two desperate shifts I only get lunch but technically it's an hour between my shifts I sometimes don't even get the hour There is no communication between managers and supervisors and staff The managers ignore the bells for assistance and it has taken up to 20 minutes to get someone to come and put through an item once I'm thankful it was one of the first items and the family I was serving had three baskets full of stuff I work thE second to last shift there's a later shift and those hired for that shift are meant to tidy up however those doing my shift are also made to stay The store layout is often changed and I often don't know where products are kept any more If you get put in a till you're stuck there If you ever get put in a disabled till you will get out in it all the time You aren't allowed to talk like ever

Pros

Contracted work once you become full time from agency. Over time available during periods but don't expect to be paid it properly!

Cons

Consistently under paid, holidays often not paid. Sick pay not given. You have to call every time you're off but never do you, the employee, ever receive a 'welfare check' 3 managers per department but pass the work on to 'super users' super users blamed if things go wrong but managers quick to take credit for good work. Very much a 'who you know, not what you know' culture. If you're face fits you'll go farther than genuinely better experienced staff. People with 5+ years managerial experience over looked for people who have never managed. Poor and inadequate training. Fundamental lack of care, consideration and respect of its staff. Over time paid monthly but worked out weekly so you, as a worker, have to give up 2 hours every week on basic before earning the over time rate which is only time and a third. Could understand that if the 30 minute break was paid but it isn't!! Company quick to make deductions from salary for lateness but never give it if you stay over.... i.e. If your late back from break you're deducted money regardless if you make the time up. Staff are treated like cattle and punished if off through injury or illness (moved from department to department) Managers should only have 30 minute breaks like colleagues but take 45mins to an hour. If you question it, you're ignored or punished.

Pros

Really easy to get overtime and holidays Lots of young people so easy to make friends and one of the easier places to get a job without prior experience Tasks are very easy Clear management structure and management are generally very nice and treat you as an equal

Cons

Work is for the most part mundane You will generally do the same thing every shift
