Terrible hiring process

Pros

Pay was good for the job

Cons

After a two month hiring process I decided to withdraw my application. After going through four interviews a very tedious background check I was “cleared” to be hired. After almost 2 months I get a call that my high school transcripts wasn’t proof enough that I went to high school and graduated. I have never needed to prove this before for any company. Unless I sent them my high school diploma I wouldn’t be able to start(I’ve already sent in my transcripts because I had them saved for college), mind you this call came almost 2 months after they started the hiring process and I was told I had the job, signed and excepted the job offer. I was given a start date and when I would be traveling only to get a call the next day that without this I couldn’t start.

Pros

Recruiters will usually negotiate up to your salary expectations when interviewing. Not an extremely strict environment. You meet cool people.

Cons

Turnover rate is very high - a lot of employees quit regularly from all levels associate to manager. Employee discount is only offered during Christmas season 30% off. You will probably end up working harder than the next person since most staff are unmotivated. The store is always understaffed, despite making huge sales and high profits. Management and HR (P&C) are not as accommodating or understanding as other companies. You must have absolute open availability on a rotating schedule with no exceptions. Not much opportunity to grow unless you are friendly with higher-ups. Poor communication amongst management which tends to overwhelm associates. No work-life balance. No one cares much for product handling so if there's items on the floor, everyone will simply walk over it or pretend they don't see it. When putting items back onto the sales floor, no one cares if the size matches the hanger or stickers for the customers. You might be considerably underpaid compared to someone doing the same job as you when you are salary.

Pros

A lot of young staff Canteen is free during covid

Cons

Monthly reporting department is a mess. Extremely high turnover. Outdated, time-consuming processes. Consistent long hours. Difficult to get time off, only 2 out of every 4 weeks available to take off and not able to take time Aug-Oct each year. Flexi-time not actually respected, meetings consistently organised outside the core hours and during lunch break. Very low morale, no staff training in the whole time I was there and concerns raised by staff members have been completely ignored.
