Pros

Overtime always available if you want it, decent hourly rate of pay, you make friends with other staff members easily, HR were nearly always nice

Cons

A lot of the managers have a God complex. Your shift would finish at 8.30 and you may not get out until 9.30, customers would be rude and sometimes intolerable and you'd have to take it, you could work there for years and be lucky if a manager said hi to you in the corridor (unless they wanted you to do overtime then they were all smiles) no staff discount

Pros

Loads of overtime, massive team, always busy with things to do.

Cons

Rubbish and hardwork overtime system put in a form but when you need to change you have to 3 weeks in advance so can be difficult

Pros

-Very simple work -Amazing co-workers -Management is very friendly (local store management) -Usually, overtime is available for all staff to sign up to -Very clear holiday entitlement and booking progress -Free Coffee/Tea for Staff (although most people aren't aware of this!)

Cons

-Simple work = boring work -Job is repetitive and not challenging -Rate of Pay doesn't scale with your responsibilities (Same pay for Cash Officer than Sales Assistant) -If you are on a close shift, you won't get out on time and you won't get paid for the extra minutes you work (acc. to paycheck) -No extra pay for overtime -No extra pay for bank holidays (Weekend staff HAVE to work all bank holidays acc. to contract) -Higher Management has no involvement (Who even is our Area Manager?) -Very disrespectful customers -Power-Hungry Supervisors/Managers can fully bloom as higher management doesn't care if they think the "lower" employees are useless -Very limited career opportunities -Useless Benefit-Scheme -Staff discount for only 2 weeks of the year -Airconditioning breaks on a regular basis - no water used to be provided at the tills until after complaint was made to trade union -Holiday pay is calculated including overtime as well - example: Say you work 8h part time Saturdays and Sundays. Then you holiday pay would be for 8h a day. But if you do overtime (most overtime is 4h) during the week, your actual holiday pay goes down - it is calculated on you average hours worked during the past 3 months. The more overtime you do, the worse you're off on your holidays!
