Pros

Great leadership team, continuous learning, and opportunity to grow. The Houston office has the best clients, whether they be energy, finance, or healthcare.

Cons

Coming in as an experience hired is difficult. Was misled by the recruited about the type of work and the 'work-life balance,' or lack of. Can be very political - definitely has a good-ole-boy feel - but coming from people who have never worked outside of Big 4. You schedule is based on billable hours, so if your efficient, you get screwed.

Infrastructure Advisory - Be wary

Pros

Smart people The firm has a stellar reputation (that has clearly been earned by the Tax and Assurance practices) If you are fresh out of school and/or a career consultant, PwC can be a great place to develop or hone your approach

Cons

If you are a experienced Infrastructure practitioner from any industry that is accustomed to "accomplishing something" be very wary about the transition to consulting at PwC or anywhere. "Advisory" solutions are a collection of obvious platitudes cloaked in non committal language and regurgitated project deliverables that are passed around with an "insert your client's name here" approach that is more akin to an informal horse trading exercise than a formal delivery methodology. At PwC, Director level resources are sales people that find and sell engagements. More often than not, the statement of work is half baked and promises some percentage of advice and/or deliverables that require skills that you don't have or do not exist elsewhere within the practice. As a Manager tasked with delivering engagements, you will invariably find the Director who sold the engagement too busy selling the next one, to assist in any meaningful way. An actual example of advice provided me in a situation such as this? "I have a call with a client, Google it"

Pros

You develop robust modeling skills and don't have to deal with pitch books. Fun, collegial environment. As a campus hire, you can start managing teams in less than 2 years - won't get that experience in banking. Hours slightly better than BB/MM (however see cons).

Cons

Pay is below market (for the talent the group recruits). Very high turnover. Considered inferior to sell-side.
